Good afternoon. Moments ago there was a hold in place initiated at Yarmouth High School, as officers from the Yarmouth Police Department were searching for an unknown suspect in the woods near the school. The hold in place has been lifted as the situation has been resolved peacefully, and it has been determined that no students or community members were in danger at any point. Enjoy the vacation week!

Central Maine Power has informed us that a sliced cable at their worksite is the cause of a disruption to internet and phone service at Rowe School in Yarmouth. Repairs are being made, and we are hopeful service will be restored by tomorrow. We have installed mobile hot spots in the office at Rowe School, making email with the office the best option for communicating with the school. You can email Miriam Epstein (miriam_epstein@yarmouthschools.org) if needed. Thank you for your patience!

February is recognized by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) as "Love the Bus Month," and this week we are celebrating Bus Driver Appreciation Week.

The Yarmouth Schools are fortunate to have a full complement of caring, expert bus drivers, who are supported by an outstanding leadership team and a dedicated maintenance staff provided by the Town of Yarmouth. Our drivers focus on safety while developing caring relationships with students and parents throughout the district, and our bus fleet routinely receives the highest ratings in Maine from State Police inspectors.

Arriving at work to inspect their buses well before the sun comes up and temperatures creep above zero degrees, oftentimes driving well into the evening and on weekends, Yarmouth's transportation team is unquestionably dedicated to getting students where they need to go - and back home again - safely and comfortably.

Please take the opportunity to say a special "thank you" to your drivers this week. Your appreciation is their greatest motivation!
