
4/4 National Speech and Debate Association's Maine District Qualifiers,
Maddy Corson, Joshua Leinwand, and Hope Cady placed third, fourth, and sixth respectively in the final House bracket. This makes Maddy the 1st alternate from the House, Joshua the 2nd, and Hope the 4th.

3/4 National Speech and Debate Association's Maine District Qualifiers,
Emerson Pardales placed third in Senate, making him the district's first alternate at that level.

2/4 National Speech and Debate Association's Maine District Qualifiers. Tyler Lucca is the district champion for the House. His first place finish has earned him an invitation to the 91st annual NSDA Tournament,

1/4 YHS won Gold at the National Speech and Debate Association's Maine District Qualifiers. Kate Siegel is officially the top congressional debater in the district for the 2020/2021 season, placing first in the Senate and earning an invitation to the 91st annual NSDA Tournament.

The Clipper Chronicle is back again with a new round of Yarmouth news including pandemic-related changes to the sports seasons, why students are assigned too much homework, and more. Also new this year are podcasts by Yarmouth students. Soleil Fournier and Mary Psyhogeos are excited to release this new publication, which you can find at clipperchronicle.weebly.com.

Tributes to Women's History Month


Last weekend debate state championship. YHS won the Sportsmanship Award!! Joshua Leinwand won the State for Lincoln-Douglas Novice. There are 3 students going to the first nationals Kate Siegel, Maddie Corson, and Mary Psyhogeos. YHS placed second overall in the state.

Dorcas Bolese's painting of Jackie Ormes is featured virtually at the Portland Museum of Art in celebration for Youth Art Month. She also was awarded with a Silver Key award for the same painting for the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.

Congratulations to YHS senior Lily Lonigan, whose work will be recognized in the Maine Art Education Association and Portland Museum of Art's Youth Art Month exhibit on March 13.


Yarmouth Debate won sweeps for the fourth tournament in a row. Maddy Corson placed first in the Senate. Also winning gold were Kate Siegel and Emerson Pardales, both in House chambers. Spencer Moore also placed in the Top 5 for the first time, earning fourth in the same chamber as Emerson. They also made it onto the board in Lincoln-Douglas this week as well (Oscar O'Donnell's trailblazing earlier in the season is paying off!) thanks to Joshua Leinwand, who earned third place in the novice division in his very first at-bat. This was the last normal tournament of the season. After break it's off to championships and qualifiers!

Congratulations to YHS students who qualified for All-State Music recognition. Sarah Krause, Arianna Koutroikois, & Tyler Lucca received All-State choir honors, while Even and Tyler Lucca received All-State band honors.

Congratulations to the second place team from YHS in the Thomas Cup Robotics Challenge! Teams of high school students from across the state of Maine competed in a week-long challenge to learn to code a virtual robot to create a specific image. Teams were rewarded for clean and efficient coding, as well as their attention to detail and use of strong coding design features. submissions highlighted collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and computational thinking skills!

Saturday, the Debate team brought home their third gold in a row and the fourth of the whole season bolstered by stunning performances from Mary Psyhogeos (1st in the Senate), Kate Siegel (2nd in the Senate), and Maddy Corson (1st in her House).

We are thrilled to welcome NYC-based actor & filmmaker, Alex Malcolm Mills '06 back to YHS as a panelist in our first "Clipper Connections" career series. At YHS, Mills played the lead in the Footloose musical and won spirit week improv-comedy challenge. #yhsalumni #clipperpride
