Class of 2028:  

Due to space limitations, sophomores are not allowed to park in YHS parking lots.  

In the past few years sophomores have increasingly tried to circumvent this expectation by parking at school, so please know that any sophomore who parks in school parking lots this year will not be allowed to register for parking next year until the end of the first quarter of 2026, which will significantly jeopardize their chances of getting a parking spot at all.

Classes of 2026 and 2027:

We are fortunate to be able to provide on-site parking on the Portland Street and loading dock sides of the building for most juniors and seniors.  
We have also faced more challenges with juniors and seniors not following expectations over the past few years.  The baseline expectations are as follows:

  • Register for parking ONLY if you will occupy the spot more than half of the time.

    • If you will need a parking spot less than half of the time, please see Dr. Hartnett or Ms. Bongard.

  • Park ONLY in your assigned spot.  

  • Do NOT park in visitor spots.

  • If you arrive at school to find your spot occupied, do not park in another spot!

    • Instead, park temporarily near the locker room exit, turn on your flashers, report to the office with the make, model, color and license plate number of the car that is in your spot.  (A photo is the best way to do this.)  

    • We will follow up immediately so that you can park and head to class.  You will not be marked late.

*** Please note that not following parking guidelines will result in a student losing parking privileges and open campus for one month (e.g September 14 to October 14).  At the end of  month, the student will need to re-register for a parking spot, if there are unassigned spots still left. ***

To Register for Parking:

Students who would like to park will need to bring their current vehicle registration AND driver's license to the main office in order to be assigned a spot. There is no charge for a parking sticker.

  • Seniors may register for a parking sticker starting from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25th.

    • This is a "seniors only" slot.  

  • Juniors may register for a parking sticker starting from 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26th. 

    • This is a “juniors only” slot.

If you are unable to attend the in-person registration session:

  • If this is due to your participation in a school-sponsored activity, you may drop off or email your materials prior to this time, and your parking spot will be assigned at the end of the day.  Email Kerry Bishop 

    • This is the only situation in which we will accept emailed materials

  • If this is due to another conflict, a family member may take your place in the process.  

    • (Note:  students may not register for parking for other students.)

  • If you do not register on Monday or Tuesday, please be aware that space is always very limited;  come in to register at the main office as soon as you are able.  Due to the busy nature of the office during the week before school, we advise you to call the office ahead of time.  The office is generally open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
