We cannot think of a better way to spend a rainy day at HMS than by reading!

Yarmouth School Department buses 6 & 12 will be running later than usual this morning due to road conditions in isolated areas. Some areas of Princes Point and Baywood Lane are inaccessible at this time.

Five HMS students spoke on a panel at the Reading Roundup conference in Augusta this week in front of 150 people! Educators who had attended their session commented to our staff about how impressed they were by our students. (Bonus: They got to see former HMS teacher Ms. Agell.)

Our 7th grade Boys Lacrosse team is in action today against NYA. The first quarter featured deft passing and playmaking by our players and solid defense from NYA. A good start to the season!

Our students did a wonderful job at our first full-school assembly in over 3 years! We celebrated our Robotics Team, heard from Danielle Smaha from the Preble Street Teen Shelter and Center, and played a rousing game of rock-paper-scissors. We had great fun!

Cora Fleming, HMS 8th grader, has read all 40 books on the Maine Student Book Award nominee list! The voting is now open and students are voting for a favorite. Award winners will be announced April 1st. Well done, Cora! https://sites.google.com/view/mainestudentbookaward/home

Loads of smiles today in the HMS gym as the Unified Basketball team played against the staff! It was a competitive game from start to finish, with the Unified team coming out on top 54-35. Thank you to coaches Nancy Jones and Mikaela Gillis for their work with our Unified team!

Yarmouth Schools will have a remote school day today – Tuesday, March 14. Teachers will be providing lessons in digital format this morning and our final student day for the year remains Thursday, June 15.

The HMS Robotics team competed in the VEX Maine Middle School State Championship on Saturday. All 5 Clipperbot teams were competitive, and Clipperbot team 7831F finished in 1st & will be competing at the VEX World Championships in Dallas, Texas in April! Congratulations to all!

Due to the forecast of a day-long snowstorm, Yarmouth Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, February 28. Students should follow the schedules provided by teachers for today's lessons.

Congratulations to Coltrane Vitalius, this year's recipient of the Steingart Music Award! The award, founded & supported by the Steingart family, recognizes an HMS student who exhibits a passion for music. Many thanks to Carol & Emily Steingart for their support of our musicians.

We had a blast tonight at our first dance since October, 2018. Thank you, Yarmouth PTO, for supporting our students!

Many thanks to the Yarmouth PTO for organizing the 2023 Glow Run. Our students had a great time today! The funds raised for the PTO will support field trips, guest speakers, enrichment activities, and so much more at HMS. A win-win!

Good morning from HMS!

During their library lesson this week, 6th graders created acrostic poems after hearing about Martin Luther King Jr., Bayard Rustin, and the children's crusade.

What more fun is there to be had than reading in the HMS Library on a snowy day?

Three HMS students have won a national video competition! IPEVO hosted a stop motion and time lapse contest for all of North America. Abram Fortin, 8th grade, won first place; Owen Damasco and Read Weiss, 6th grade, tied for second place! Way to go, Abram, Owen, and Read!

Update: with rerouting, Bus #8 may only be 5 minutes behind schedule this morning. We encourage riders to be ready at the regular time, and to be patient as we plug this gap in our services. Thank you.
