Harrison Middle School has two separate Jazz Bands: one for 6th grade and a combined 7th & 8th grade ensemble. These groups play repertoire that highlights the genre of Jazz and its many subgenres.  Improvisation is highly encouraged, although it is not mandatory.

Each group rehearses two mornings per week in the HMS Band Room from 7:15 am - 7:50 am.  Jazz Band rehearsals for the 2023-24 year begin on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 according to the following schedule:

6th Grade Jazz Band: Tuesdays & Thursdays

7th & 8th Grade Jazz Band: Wednesdays & Fridays

Both Jazz Bands perform on a special “Jazz Night” held in the HMS cafeteria.  The Jazz Night performances for the 2023-24 school year are:

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 6:30 pm  

All students are welcome ~ wind instruments (flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, etc), rhythm section instruments (piano, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, etc.), and non-wind ensemble instruments (violin, cello, etc.).
