Parking is getting tight at YHS Dear Students, The growth of YHS not only presents some incredible opportunities for our school, but some challenges as well. As we have quickly realized this year, our facilities were not built for a school larger than 500 students, which is difficult considering that our student population has now reached 546. That being said, as more students get their licenses, parking is becoming more and more limited. In the future, we may need to look at a system of parking passes/stickers, but for now, we need to ensure: Access areas are not blocked for emergency vehicles Handicapped parking areas must remain available for those who need them. Upperclassmen have enough spaces The Student Senate has been working with administration in order to find a short-term solution for the rest of this school year. In order to ensure that we meet all three of the aforementioned expectations, administration and facilities will allow students to park in areas that we normally use for guests during major school events. Specifically, these areas include: The grassy hill in the back parking lot Extra Bus parking by the baseball field In order to make this plan work, students need to use these spaces appropriately and do their best to avoid damage to the facilities. A reminder to new drivers that they need to stop by the office and provide registration information to Ms. Lainey or Ms. Lucien. Thank you for your patience and understanding. -YHS Student Senate
