Tickets go on sale November 7 at the YPAC Box Office only. Box office hours: Nov 7-18 11-1pm and on Nov 7 & 9 from 3:30-6:30pm (during YHS conferences). The box office will be closed Nov.11 Ticket reservations can be made starting Nov 7 at YPAC_BoxOffice@yarmouthschools.org or by calling 846-2335. All reservations will be confirmed.


Boys Ice Hockey meeting - Friday - 2nd break There is a Boys Ice Hockey meeting during second lunch in the library tomorrow, the 26th. Anyone who plans on playing hockey, or is thinking about playing hockey, this year needs to go. The season starts in just about a month. We will be discussing upperclassman practices during the meeting. Thank you, The seniors


Community Service opportunity - 10/28 The Annual Halloween Party at the Y is coming up on 10/28 from 6-8pm and we are in need of volunteers for a variety of activities. The activities that we need volunteer help with are below: Haunted Trail (14) Refreshment Server (4) Popcorn makers (2) Fortune Tellers (2) Crafts (6) Mad Science lab (2) Games (6) Face painting (3) Post-Party clean up (as many as possible J) Volunteers should arrive by 5:30pm to get set up and get any necessary directions. If students are interested in helping or have any questions, they should contact Nykole Cadigan, Youth Development Coordinator at ncadigan@ymcaofsouthernmaine.org


Creative Writing Day is on!! October 28th Creative Writing Day is ON for this fall! This year it will take place on Friday, October 28 from 8:45-2:45. If you've enjoyed the day in the past, hope you'll be able to make it again! If you've never done it, it's like a voluntary in-school field trip. Six local writers will be here to lead workshops in specific writing genres. If you love writing, creativity, and sharing your ideas and work with others, consider signing up! Athletic Update A quick update to this week's play off schedules. Field Hockey defeated Kennebunk 2-1 yesterday to advance to the Regional Championship Game vs. York tomorrow 3:30 at Massabeisic High School. The bus will depart at 1:15, players will touch base with teachers about make-up work since this class was also missed on the Monday playoff game. The winner advances to the State Championships on Saturday! Girls Soccer will host GNG in a quarterfinal game at 6:00 here at YHS Wednesday Night! Volleyball will travel to Scarborough for a semi-final game 6:30 p.m. winner advances to the State Championship Game on Friday! Please be reminded that the fees for admittance to MPA playoff games are $4.00 for seniors/students and $7.00 for adults. GO CLIPPERS!

If you are a skier, I bet your excitement is mounting!! Fall is here…the first frost is coming…and soon……the white stuff will fall! Did you know that Spurwink has a ski program at Sugarloaf for children with autism? We are entering our 6th season, and looking for volunteers! What do volunteers do? You provide 1:1 support for a child with autism who is enrolled in Sugarloaf ski school lessons. What is the obligation? You are asked to commit to one weekend (more if you’d like) – a Saturday and a Sunday (from 9:30-12 and 12:30-3). The program begins January 7 and ends March 26(weekend of Feb 18 excluded). What are the perks? 1) You open the door to possibilities for a child with autism; 2) You receive a FREE ski voucher ($95 value) to use any other time; 3) You can stay at Sugarloaf in the brand new Adaptive Outdoor Education center for free, both Friday and Saturday night! What are the qualifications? To be a good skier, and to have experience with and understanding of autism


Community Service Opportunity The YES 3rd graders are coming up to the high school to rock climb as part of their geology unit. Each year high school students volunteer to belay the 3rd climbers as they climb. Complete the form (in student email) if you are interested. You will receive community service time for your involvement. There is a need for 4 high school students for each of the time slots. Please keep in mind that you can only sign up for a time slot if you have a study hall at that time! Preference will be given to members of the Outing Club. If you are a 9th grader, you must have previous belaying experience. If you have any questions please ask. Thank you, Mr. Simms


Extra curricular eligibility Hello YHS Students, Please be reminded that quarter 1 ends on Friday, November 4th and the eligibility report is due out the following Thursday, November 10th. If students are ineligible at this point they may not regain eligibility until Tuesday, December 13th. Eligibility is based on quarter 1 grades, cornerstones do not impact eligibility. This eligibility check point impacts any students participating on Winter sports in addition to all other extra-curricular activities. Please let me know if you have any questions. The actual eligibility policy for your reference in the text below: Eligibility Any student at Yarmouth High School is eligible to participate in interscholastic athletics if he/she meets the eligibility requirements as established by the MPA and Yarmouth High School. 1. Be enrolled in at least five full courses; and 2. Pass all courses in which he/she is enrolled during the quarter. An incomplete grade will be considered as a failure until it is made up and a grade is given. It should be noted that a student failing one course or receiving one incomplete grade may not participate in games/performances, but is still expected to practice and abide by existing team and code rules and regulations. Students failing two courses or having two incompletes, or any combination which equals two or more cannot participate in games/performances or practices. Ineligibility begins the day report cards are distributed to students. Eligibility will be reinstated on the date published for the distribution of mid-term reports. GO CLIPPERS!


Community Service Opportunity: Cousin's Island Halloween Party! Looking for the following: Saturday and/or Sunday, October 29th & 30th Decorating and set-up Monday, October 31st 4:30-8:30 2-4 volunteers on Halloween.. in costumes! To help supervise kids and help with food. The location is the Cousins Island Community House on Cousins Island (1 mile after the bridge on the left on Cousins Street).
