Community Service opportunity - 10/28 The Annual Halloween Party at the Y is coming up on 10/28 from 6-8pm and we are in need of volunteers for a variety of activities. The activities that we need volunteer help with are below: Haunted Trail (14) Refreshment Server (4) Popcorn makers (2) Fortune Tellers (2) Crafts (6) Mad Science lab (2) Games (6) Face painting (3) Post-Party clean up (as many as possible J) Volunteers should arrive by 5:30pm to get set up and get any necessary directions. If students are interested in helping or have any questions, they should contact Nykole Cadigan, Youth Development Coordinator at ncadigan@ymcaofsouthernmaine.org


Creative Writing Day is on!! October 28th Creative Writing Day is ON for this fall! This year it will take place on Friday, October 28 from 8:45-2:45. If you've enjoyed the day in the past, hope you'll be able to make it again! If you've never done it, it's like a voluntary in-school field trip. Six local writers will be here to lead workshops in specific writing genres. If you love writing, creativity, and sharing your ideas and work with others, consider signing up! Seniors: a message from the Guidance Office Hello Seniors, The University of Maine will be hosting an application review day here at YHS on Tuesday, October 25. Nikolas Ray will be here to review applications and make on the spot admission decisions and/or recommendations for students who are interested. If you would like to be included in this opportunity please do the following: 1. Apply online to the University of Maine (on the Common App, or at www.go.umaine.edu/apply) by Tuesday, October 18th. Please note, application fees are waived for students who submit an application prior to December 1st through Early Action. 2. Email me by noon on Friday, October 14 to let me know that you would like to participate, and I will schedule your time. Sessions will last approximately 20 minutes.
