March is here and the guidance office is a busy place with many things happening as we head into the spring months. Please see below for March updates!
The guidance office is excited to welcome Annie King, a graduate student at the University of Southern Maine, as our guidance intern this semester. Please see Annie's welcome note here to learn more about her and her role at YHS.
Save the Date! Our annual College Information Night is scheduled for April 5, at 6:30pm in the YPAC. While this program is intended for sophomore and junior students and parents, all students and parents are welcome. More information will be sent out as the date approaches.
Our list of local and regional opportunities is growing quickly in preparation for the summer months! Don't forget to check back often as it is updated several times a week this time of year.
Junior guidance meetings are continuing through the month. Juniors are also participating in practice interviews this week and next with local college representatives.
A reminder that all juniors will take the SAT at school on Wednesday, April 5, during the school day. This test is required and is part of the Maine High School Assessment. The state will pay for this test and we will complete the registration process here at school for the juniors.
Over the next several weeks, sophomores will be meeting in small groups in the guidance office to explore possible future career paths using a career interest inventory. The information and awareness gained through this experience will be used as a tool during student's junior meetings with Mrs. Doane or Mrs. Michaelsen next year.
Admission decisions are still coming in! Please keep the Guidance Office informed of decisions as you hear from your schools.
Scholarships are being updated daily. Click here to see the most up-to-date list of local, regional, and national scholarships. You can also access an additional national database here. The login and password for this site are both "yarmouth" (case sensitive).
Any scholarship that requires an official transcript, also requires a transcript release form. A parent signature is required for students who are under 18 years old.
That's all for March! Don't hesitate with questions. Thank you!
