Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hopefully, you were able to rest and relax with family over the winter vacation.  We once again hit the ground running as we return to school with our inaugural Spirit Week at YHS - a weeklong celebration of activities.  With March right around the corner, we would also like to provide you a week-by-week preview of several important upcoming dates.

In the first week of March, Our Playmakers will be performing The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wildby Paul Zindel.   This year’s One Act Play will take place on March 6 in the YPAC at 8:00 pm. A free cake reception will be held before the show.  In the tiny living quarters behind the Greenwich Village candy store which she operates with her husband, crowded with her collection of movie magazines and beloved television set, Mildred Wild has escaped from reality into a dream world conjured up by the 3,000 movies she has eagerly devoured. And when the outside world does not intrude via her husband, his meddling sister, their quirky landlady, the friendly butcher from next door or the foreman of the wrecking crew set to tear down the building - Mildred meets each crisis with a hilarious fantasy-scene drawn from her precious lode of old movies. As the action moves swiftly ahead to its delightfully unpredictable climax, Mildred’s life is further complicated by such unlikely visitors as a nun, King Kong, and a highly efficient TV camera crew - all adding to the merriment and ultimately to the poignancy which infuses the play and the touching escapades if its kooky, loveable and totally enchanting heroine. Please join us for this performance as the Playmakers will be traveling to Mount Desert Island High School for their Regional Competition on March 8 and 9.

There are two significant events during the second week of March.  First, as we wrap up the winter season, our athletic director Susan Robbins would appreciate your feedback by taking the following Parent Survey.   It’s also time to prepare for the spring sports season, and Spring Sports Information Nightwill be held Monday, March 11th at 6:00 pm. Please join your child in learning more about the upcoming season from our spring coaching staff.

Next, will also hold our Registration Conferenceson March 12th and March 13th.  These conferences provide you and your student with the opportunity to meet individually with your student’s advisor to sign up for next year’s classes.  You should be hearing from your student’s advisor with more information. Prior to the registration conferences, please take time to discuss the course selection information with your son or daughter, as the Course of Studies (link here)contains valuable academic information about Yarmouth High School and provides you with information to make decisions based on your student’s interests, strengths, and needs.

The third full week of March is an exciting time at Yarmouth High School, as each grade level participates in several unique learning experiences:
