Dear Parents/Guardians-

We are pleased to share the following information with you!

Thanks to our PTO for co-hosting our first “New to Yarmouth” coffee for parents who are new to HMS. We appreciated this time to get together and debrief the school year. We are looking forward to next year’s get togethers with families new to our district.

Congratulations to Harper Featherstone and Eleri Fitzgerald, May’s recipients of the HMS/Rotary Student Recognition award! The 5th grade unified arts team chose Eleri for this recognition and the 5th grade teachers chose Harper. This recognition is based on growth mindset and the effort/grit/perseverance demonstrated by HMS students. Harper and Eleri will be honored at an upcoming Rotary meeting at Town Hall. Stay tuned for the HMS News POST COMING SOON!

Young Athletes Festival: Our 8th grade students provided a wonderful, warm welcome to our visiting athletes last Friday! They helped them to register for the event, patiently guided them through the different activities, coached them, supported them, laughed with them and played with them. Our visitors were thrilled to share this time with their new friends. They showed their appreciation with smiles and many hugs.

The eighth grade students focused their energy on the kids, making sure they had everything they needed to enjoy the day. We thank them for giving of themselves in this way. Their efforts made an important and positive difference for the visiting children, their parents and teachers!

Huge appreciation to Lisa Bird and Mark Capano, from the Special Olympics, for all of their work creating this special event for our community. Thank you to Rod Corey and the 8th grade team for their tireless efforts to ensure that all details were in place for the festival. As always, we thank Meredith Hawkins, YHS graduate, for bringing this event to our school in 2012. More news on this event in an upcoming News Blog.

"Yarmouth's Got Talent Grown-Up Edition #2!" will be held on Friday, May 18th, at The Yarmouth AmVets Hall (7pm)!   This event supports youth/community music scholarships (offered for both music study and musical summer camp experiences).  Tickets will be sold at the door for $15 for grown-ups and $5 for students. The Yarmouth Music Boosters are co-sponsoring this event with Yarmouth's Studio B.
