Dear YHS Families,

I hope that you have been able to follow the Yarmouth High School Twitter feed, as the month of May has featured tremendous student accomplishments.  Even when learning from afar, our students continue to be recognized for success in their academics, art, theater, athletics, and music.  We continue to find ways to celebrate the Class of 2020, and after today’s advisory activities, we look forward to the senior recognition and award ceremony on Friday, June 10th at 10 am.  More information will be shared with seniors and their parents next week.

With June around the corner, it’s time to prepare for the end of the school year.  The last day of classes for students in grades 9, 10, and 11 is Thursday, June 11th.   Please work with your student to finish all Essential Assignments.  These can be found in PowerSchool, and need to be completed in order for students to earn credit for their courses.  A reminder that eligibility for fall activities is based upon the 4th quarter.  Should students need additional time and support to complete their Essential Assignments, we will be offering a summer school program for students.  More information about this program will be shared with you in the next two weeks..

As always, there are several important upcoming dates and events, as we ask that you take a few minutes to review the following:

Laptop/Material Drop-off Times - In the weeks ahead, we are offering several dates that will provide students and parents the opportunity to drop off laptops, textbooks, library materials, and athletic equipment/uniforms.  This will occur at the West Elm entrance, and provide a “curbside” procedure that follows social distancing expectations.

Students/Parents should park in the West Elm Lot.

- Students/Parents must wear facemasks and maintain 6’ distancing expectations from others.

- Students/Parents will then form a line on the brick pathway, where they will then drop off materials and laptops.

- Yearbooks will be available at another section of the parking lot.

Please refer to the following dates and times for more information:

Grade 12 Drop-Off:  Wednesday, June 3rd.

- Last names A-L from 11 to 1 pm

- Last names M-Z from 1 to 3 pm.

Please reach out to the main office (846-5535) if you have further questions or concerns.

Step-Up Day - Students in grades 9-11 will go through a virtual “step-up day” on Monday, June 8th where they will meet their teachers for next year’s classes.  Any summer readings or assignments will be reviewed at this time, and your student’s advisor will help guide your student through this process.

As the school year draws to the close, we are left with many questions regarding the road ahead of us.  Superintendent Dolloff recently shared a plan link here providing an overview of our work this summer.  No matter what September may look like, the faculty and administration are committed to providing our students with learning experiences that fulfill our beliefs of learning and adhere to our core values.

Respectfully,

Eric Klein, Amy Bongard, and David Creech - YHS Administrative Team
