Dear YES Families,

Our staff spent the day collaborating together as we prepared for the transition to distance learning tomorrow. Here are a few items for you to be aware of as you help support your child with this new adventure in learning!

SEESAW CLASS APP

You may have already received communication from your child's teacher explaining the "Seesaw Class " platform. I have included the "Downloading and Logging Into the Seesaw Class App" directions again here:  https://target.brightarrow.com/userfiles/29852/files/Logging in to Seesaw at Home.pdf

Please note that this is different than the "Seesaw Family App" that you have used in the past. If you have any difficulty downloading the Seesaw Class App start by communicating with your child's teacher. If they are not able to help you troubleshoot you can reach out to our technology integrator Todd Abbott at todd_abbott@yarmouthschools.org

For the next two weeks, your child will receive assignments in the following content areas:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Specials* (Whatever unified arts special your child is scheduled for each day will stay the same)

All four of these assignments can be found on the "Seesaw Class" platform. They will be updated daily and teachers will review student work and provide feedback.

ATTENDANCE

Although the distance learning model we are using is asynchronous, we are still required by the state of Maine to keep daily attendance. We will be doing this through the attached form:

Yarmouth Elementary School Attendance

We need your help! Please book mark this form and when your child logs in to look at their assignments each day fill out the form. It will only take a few seconds to complete.

Mrs. Bianchini and Mrs. Carter, along with our school nurse Mrs. Thomson, will keep track of attendance and sickness by communicating with you if students are not marked as "present" each day.  We appreciate your help and support in verifying that your child is engaging in the work for each given day.

YARMOUTH SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES

As we deal with the challenges of Covid-19 we also want to make sure that we are supporting the social-emotional health of our students and families. Here is the link to a letter from the Yarmouth District Student Support Team:  https://target.brightarrow.com/userfiles/29852/files/Yarmouth School District and Community Resources.pdf .  This letter provides some quality, comprehensive resources that can help you support your children and families during this difficult time. I encourage you to review these resources and reach out to our Student Support professionals at YES if they can be of any help.

Thank you again for your support of our school and staff these past few days. I cannot begin to tell you how much we have appreciated your kind words and understanding. I plan to follow up with you all at the end of the week but please feel free to reach out to me anytime with any need. I will continue to have regular office hours at school and can be reached at 846-3391 or at ryan_gleason@yarmouthschools.org.

Have a good week,

Ryan Gleason, YES Principal
