YHS Update December 18, 2014

posted Dec 18, 2014, 2:00 PM by Ted Hall
Dear YHS Parents,

With one school day until we go out for our holiday break, I have a few items for you.

1.  In my last email to you, I invited you to a meeting on the evening of Tuesday, January 6th from 7:30-9:00 in the YHS Flex Room to hear about a proposal to change how we recognize academic distinction at graduation.  I would again like to invite you to this meeting if you are interested in hearing more about the proposal.  The full information can be found at this link.

2.  I also mentioned in my last email that our Lost and Found table is growing!  During the break, we are going to donate any unclaimed items to charity.  Please encourage your son or daughter to look for lost items there.  I have attached a photo of the tables so that you can see how much is displayed.

3.  Junior Class Fundraiser:  Are you still looking for a holiday gift?  The Junior Class has got you covered! As previously communicated, the Junior Class will be selling Sunrise Guides from now until the Friday before Winter Break.  Profits from our sales will support the Junior Class.  There two ways to order a guide
  • Have your student deliver your payment to one of the Junior Class Officers or Anne Tommaso, and we will give him or her the book(s) to bring home to you.
  • Come to the YHS office where Beth Lucien and Jenn Lainey will have books available to pick up.
The cost of the print guide is $20.  There are also other purchase options and more information which you can find at this link.  Tomorrow (Friday, December 15th) is the last day of the sale.

4. I heard an interesting story on National Public Radio the other day about teenage drinking and parties.  I thought you might be interested in this as well as we head into a long break.  Here is the link to the story.

I hope you have a nice holiday season.  We start back to school on Monday, January 5th.

Sincerely,

Ted Hall, Principal
