YHS Update -- January 4, 2015

Dear YHS Parents,

Happy New Year!  With school starting back tomorrow morning, I thought I would update you on a few upcoming events at YHS over the next two weeks.

1.  In my last email to you, I invited you to a meeting on the evening of Tuesday, January 6th from 7:30-9:00 in the YHS Flex Room to hear about a proposal to change how we recognize academic distinction at graduation.  I would again like to invite you to this meeting if you are interested in hearing more about the proposal.  The full information can be found at this link.

2.  As you may be aware, the Yarmouth School Department is in the midst of developing a five-year strategic plan.  As part of that process, our new superintendent, Andrew Dolloff would like to invite you to participate in a Community Forum to share your ideas and thoughts about our schools.  The Forum will be held on Monday, January 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Yarmouth High School cafeteria.  The attached invitation will provide a few more details.

3.  Next Tuesday morning, January 13th, from 8:00-9:15 AM in the YHS Flex Room, I will be hosting a Parent-Principal Coffee.  This is an opportunity to meet with me and other parents to talk informally about any aspect of high school.

4.  For those of you with 10th or 11th graders, we will be kicking off our preparations for this year's Career Exploration Program with the students on Tuesday with a short assembly.  The three-day job shadow program will take place March 18-20.  For information about the CEP, please visit this link.  As the program unfolds, you will be hearing more from your son or daughter's advisor.

I hope you had a nice holiday season.
